Here’s a weird concept — redecorating with used furniture.
Hear me out.
How often do you change your look? Probably more than once every few years right? When’s the last time you changed your space? Why does it have to be that much different?
The cool thing is that you can sell your pieces, and instead of taking that initial blow of really expensive furniture, you can redecorate with already pre-loved pieces. And yes, it may be used furniture, but hey it’s still new to you (and your space!).
If you’re wondering about used furniture, here’s a few things to know:
- When shopping, always go for well-known brands (we’re talking West Elm, Ikea, Restoration Hardware, Cb2, Crate and Barrel, Pottery Barn, etc). These items not only provide good quality, but also most importantly hold their value.
- When you are shopping used, especially on online platforms, make sure whatever you are shopping for has plenty of photos. Make sure the photos capture the item close up, all the angles, etc.
- Be mindful of what you splurge on — whether you’re shopping new or used furniture, certain item categories will sell better than others. Beds for example, are harder to sell because they’re such a personal piece, but people have fewer hesitations when shopping a used desk or sofa.
